Luka Doncic | Dallas Mavericks



Luka Dončić (born February 28, 1999 in Ljubljana) is a Slovenian basketball player. He is 2.01m tall and plays point guard and guard for the Dallas Mavericks in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Slovenian national team.

Dončić was a young player for Union Olimpija, before joining the youth academy of Spanish club, Real Madrid. He made his debut for their senior side in 2015, aged 16, becoming the youngest in club history. Two years later, he led Madrid to the 2018 Euroleague title, winning the Euroleague and Final Four MVP award. Dončić was also La Liga ACB MVP, and won the Euroleague Rising Star and ACB Best Young Player awards twice in a row. He was selected in the 2010-2020 Euroleague Team of the Decade.

Dončić was chosen third in the 2018 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks and traded to the Dallas Mavericks. During a very accomplished NBA rookie season, he won the rookie of the year trophy, ahead of Trae Young and DeAndre Ayton. In his second season, he was selected for his first NBA All-Star Game.

A Slovenian international, Dončić made his senior Slovenian debut in 2016 aged just 17. He won the European Championship in 2017 with Slovenia and was later named to the All-Tournament team.
